The wide range of spices used in the main distillate for Oude Proever is left to soak in a special still for at least three days. The final distillate is mixed with Malt spirit, wheat alcohol and water, then everything is aged for a few years in American oak barrels.

Taste
Pale gold in colour, Wenneker Oude Proever Old Genever releases notes of malt and light notes of caramel and toffee to the nose, with a hint of fennel. Maltwine and juniper are clearly recognisable on the palate, but ageing gives the genever a softer taste. The long, intense finish leaves room for liquorice.
Obviously we recommend drinking it neat at room temperature in the genever’s tulip-shaped glasses to enjoy it at its best. Alternatively, you can try it in a tumbler with a few ice cubes.
