The recipe was created by an English officer stationed during the Second World War in the city of Rimini, taken by nostalgia for his distillate, and by Virgilio Leardini landowner who later kept the recipe in the family drawers, found many years later by his great-grandson Alessandro. Riviera Gin, produced in an ancient Tuscan distillery, is currently the only gin in Italy that comes from a base of Sangiovese wine.
